Kosovo police seize arms, arrest 3 people

PRISTINA, Serbia, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Police and NATO troops in Serbia's mainly ethnic-Albanian Kosovo province seized a large number of weapons and arrested three people.

The men arrested included an official at the Kosovo Ministry of Labor and two officials of a ruling coalition parliamentary party, Serbia's Beta news agency reported.

They were arrested at Glogovac, 20 miles west of the Kosovo capital Pristina, Wednesday night.

Veton Elshani, a spokesman for the Kosovo police service, said police and military officers confiscated ammunition and explosives at the village outside Glogovac.

U.N. civil police units and NATO troops have been deployed in Kosovo since 1999 armed conflicts between Serbia's security forces and ethnic-Albanian separatists.

The Kosovo government praised the arrests, Beta said.
