(BANG) - An American flower thief has been leaving behind thank-you notes signed the 'the flower bandit'.

Jason Jasnos, of Des Moines, Iowa, said he discovered a note in his garden a day after catching two women holding a bunch of his flowers.

The letter read, 'Thank you for the flowers. Many others will enjoy them', and was singed 'the flower bandit'.

Jasnos decided to investigate the incident and he discovered many of his neighbours had also been victims of the flower bandit.

Jasnos' wife Sherry is trying to see the positive side of the thefts.

She said: "I'm assuming they are going to brighten someone's day."
