OAP shares home with 1,000 rats

An elderly US man kept 1,000 pet rats inside his one bedroom house. The 67-year-old says he started with a smaller collection of rodents but couldn't stop them breeding uncontrollably. He admits his colony "had gotten a bit out of control" but didn't want to part with his furry friends because he loved them so much. He has now been charged with animal cruelty and the rats have been removed.
