World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. is a company engaged to the professional wrestling industry founded in 1952 in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. There are also offices in Los Angeles, New York City, London and Toronto. Formerly wrestlers used to fight at back alleys and rough areas until wrestler Joseph Reynold along with boxer Roderick James McMahon created the Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC), which in 1953 joined the National Wrestling Alliance. Eventually Vince McMahon replaced his father and in 1982 he purchased Capitol Sports from him, two years after he founded Titan Sports, Inc., which evolved to World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. and then to today's World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. What he did was to turn the sport business into entertainment in spite of his father's wish. Today the McMahon family runs the company. Vince McMahon is the owner and Chairman of the company, followed by his wife Linda who holds the position of Chief Executive Officer. Their son, Shane McMahon, holds the position of Vice President of Global Media and his sister, Stephanie McMahon-Lavesque is the Senior Vice President of Creative Writing. On May 2006, the company's market capitalization was over a billion (US), a revenue of $400.1 million USD, an operating income of $70.5 million USD and a net income of $47.0 million USD in 2006. They main module of the company is about Professional wrestling. They have the largest professional wrestling promotion in the world, and hold a huge library of videos in professional wrestling history. WWE has three brands: RAW, which is the Monday Night professional wrestling show, SmackDown! performing four shows a week and ECW which is based on the former stand alone wrestling promotion. WWE runs three of the eight internationally recognized world titles: WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Hardcore Championship.
