Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio Jr. is a famous Mexican-American professional wrestler known for being the World Heavyweight Champion. Oscar Gutierrez Rubio was born on December 11, 1974 in San Diego, California. Since he was too young to wrestle in the U.S., his wrestling career started in April 1989 in Mexico under his uncle’s supervision. When he was 18 he adopted his uncle’s nickname. In 1995 already in America he fought against old partner from Mexico Psicosis and defeated him at the Extreme Championship Wrestling. He then moved to World Championship Wrestling where he had various famous matches with Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Psychosis, Eddie Guerrero and Juventud Guerrera. He won the WCW Cruiserweight title five times and Three times in the WWE, as well as three WCW Tag Team titles with Kidman. He developed a unique style and personality by which we got famous. In 2002 Mysterio joined WWE and immediately won the SmackDown! By defeating Kurt Angle, won the WWE Tag Team Championship by winning Edge and the WWE Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Matt Hardy but then lost the title to Tajiri and the cruiserweight title from Spike Dudley. Rey made a team along with Rob Van Dam who became injured and Rey lost the titles to the Basham Brothers. After ex partner Eddy Guerrero died, Mysterio was part of a team along with Randy Orton, Bonny Lashley, Batista and JBL and defeated Team RAW. But only one thing was occupying Rey’s mind and it was to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He had to win the Royal Rumble and claim to the head of the WrestleMania 22, so he did. At the WrestleMania 22, by playing the underdog he faced Kurt Angle and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match, and with a unique movement the undersized Mysterio was the World Heavyweight Champion.
