ATLANTA, March 4 (UPI) -- Two goals by Marian Hossa Sunday gave Atlanta a 3-1 win over Carolina and moved the Thrashers into a tie for the lead in the Southeast Division.

Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves to help bring Atlanta its third straight win. The Thrashers share first place in the division with Tampa Bay.

Rod Brind'Amour scored Carolina's only goal, as the Hurricanes lost for the third time in four games. They are clinging to the final Eastern Conference playoff spot by one point over Montreal.

Ilya Kovalchuk put Atlanta in front for good late in the second period with a wrist shot.
