ATLANTA, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Josh Smith recorded 22 points Wednesday as Atlanta pulled off its second surprising home win of the young season -- 105-96 over Phoenix.

Although Steve Nash made seven three-point shots and scored 34 points, the Suns fell victim to a balanced and solid Atlanta effort.

Marvin Williams scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds for Atlanta, while Josh Childress chipped in with 19. Atlanta stunned Dallas in the Hawks' home opener and bounced back in this one after losing at Detroit and New Jersey by a combined six points.

Phoenix played its third straight game without Amare Stoudemire, who is nursing a sore right knee. Shawn Marion scored 20 for the Suns, who were out-rebounded by 16.

The Suns were within three points with 3:50 to play, but Atlanta went on a 7-0 run capped by Smith's three-point play.

Atlanta played before a rare sellout crowd of 19,855.
