Copyright 2007 by United Press International (via ClariNet) DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., June 18 (UPI) -- A spokesman for the Volusia County Beach Patrol in Florida said dangerous conditions led to nearly 700 rescues during the weekend. Beach patrol member Scott Petersohn said strong rip currents, a high tide, holes in the sandbar and a high volume of swimmers added up to a dangerous mixture, prompting 281 rescues Saturday and more than 400 rescues on Sunday, WKMG-TV, Orlando, Fla., reported Monday. No drownings were reported in the county. WKMG-TV said the dangerous conditions are expected to continue in the county and in other parts of the state Monday.
