Indianapolis 500The Indianapolis 500 is an American race for open-wheel automobiles. It held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, over the Memorial Day. The Indianapolis 500 is an oldest and richest motor sport event. The first Indianapolis 500 race was held on May 30, 1911 at Speedway. The first race winner was an American driver, who drove an American car. From the period of 1913 to 1999 European developed there own cars to won the Indianapolis race 500. Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi was one of American single-seater racing's most successful drivers in the 80s in Indianapolis event. In between for at least the period of ten years European manufactures gone from the Indianapolis 500 and made their return after World War 11, with Maserati 8CM, which allowed Wilbur Shaw to become the first driver to win the event in 1941.
