Proud parents Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako

(BANG) - Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako enjoyed watching their daughter, Princess Aiko, take part in her school sports day in Tokyo last week.

Five-year-old Aiko - wearing her gym kit and a pink party hat - joined her Gakushuin Kindergarten classmates in performing a special dance.

Proud parents Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako looked on enthusiastically as the young princess and her friends performed a stage show called Kobito-san.

Aiko laughed and skipped as she and her classmates sang and danced for the watching parents.

Prince Naruhito was keen to capture the event for the family album, recording the performance on video from his front row seat and taking photos throughout the day.

Sporty Princess Aiko - who is a huge fan of sumo wrestling and loves watching it live - enjoyed taking part in a tug-of-war.

Later in the day she also competed in a relay race.
