Princess Anne's helicopter terror(BANG) - Britain's Princess Anne was evacuated from the royal helicopter yesterday (08.10.07) after it caught fire. The Princess Royal boarded the aircraft, which was waiting in the grounds of a Welsh school, with two aides after visiting patients and staff at the nearby Denbigh Royal Infirmary. As the royal party were about to take off a faulty starter motor sparked and caused smoke to bellow out of the helicopter. The pilot was reportedly forced to use an on-board extinguisher to put out the blaze. A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to deal with reports of smoke coming from a helicopter in the grounds of Denbigh High School at 2.40pm on October 8. "Passengers were aboard the helicopter when the incident occurred. Passengers were evacuated from the aircraft." Police confirmed the cause of the fire was a mechanical fault on the royal helicopter. Anne - who was visiting the hospital to mark its 200 years of care - was then taken by car to her next official visit in Wrexham. Royal officials claim emergency services were only called as a "precaution" and there was no fire. A spokeswoman from London's Buckingham Palace said: "There was actually no fire.
