Prince Frederik's bodyguard book halt

(BANG) - Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik's former bodyguard has been forced to delay the publication of his tell-all book over fears for the safety of the royal family.

Jesper Lundorf was due to release 'In her Majesty's Secret Service' on October 22, but publishers have now been ordered by the Danish Security Intelligence Services (PET) to push back releasing it until spring 2008.

The agency believe much of the tome's sensational material lacks credibility, and are insisting Aschehoug Publishing House check over all the claims before it hits the book shelves.

A PET spokesperson said: "We have held a number of meetings with the publishers where we expressed our concerns regarding the book."

'In her Majesty's Secret Service' is thought to contain extremely sensitive information not only about Frederik and the rest of the Danish royal family, but also concerning several high profile politicians.

Jeppe Markers, head of Aschehoug's editorial department, told Denmark's Copenhagen Post newspaper: "PET gave us their opinion and we listened to it.

"That has caused us to give the manuscript an extra once-over security check, which takes time to do thoroughly."

Lundorf worked for PET before becoming Frederik's bodyguard for seven years.

His book is described as a "behind-the-scenes look at how PET operates and the challenges faced as the crown prince's 'shadow' ".

PET are considering legal action against Lundorf, who was required to take a strict vow of secrecy about his duties and the organisation's operations.

Lundorf has been a martial arts instructor for many years specialising in training bodyguards and currently works as a highly paid security advisor in the private sector.
