Fantasia Barrino

Fantasia Barrino was born on June 30, 1984 in High Point, North Carolina. Barrino fist came in the public eye when she became the winner of the third season of TV series, American Idol. Her love for music started at the age of 5 when she began singing for church. With her stylish and convincing voice, Barrino impressed the American Idol audience and Judges. She beat out the other contestant, Diana DeGarmo by nearly 1.3 million votes and she was announced as winner on May 26, 2004. After wining the American Idol label she also participated in the U.S. tour with the other American Idol finalists to perform in the 2004 Christmas special. Barrino released her first single, 'I Believe' in June 2004 on the RCA record label and following that year in November she released an album, Free Yourself. Her first album was debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 pop album chart and soon after selling million of copies it went on to Platinum. Most recently she has received a 2005 NAACP Image Award for being Outstanding Female Artist of the year.
