Winfrey, ABC team up for prime time series

CHICAGO, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. talk show host Oprah Winfrey and her Harpo Productions have teamed with ABC for two new reality series headed for prime time.

The new series will mark the first time the talk show diva has ventured into prime time television, and will be the first offerings from Harpo's new TV development department, Daily Variety said.

ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson said the new series -- "Oprah Winfrey's Big Give" and the tentatively named "Your Money or Your Life" -- represent both a coup and a perfect fit for his network.

"Oprah Winfrey getting into series TV is monumental," he said. "These two shows are a perfect fit for our alternative brand, with their focus on wish fulfillment and making lives better."

Variety said both series, which have no scheduled launch dates, will follow themes from Winfrey's daytime series, by offering people a chance to help themselves and others through charitable efforts.
