Prada line focuses on 'strong and serious'

MILAN, Italy, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- "Simple things that make a woman look strong and serious" was how Miuccia Prada described her brand's new clothing line making its debut in Milan, Italy.

With many of its evening wear-based clothes influenced by historical fashions from the 1940s, Prada offered a glimpse of the designer's new sultry dresses, The Independent said.

"People and communities everywhere are searching for beauty," Prada said as models revealed her line, which included several sage-green shorts accompanied with lively fashionable sandals.

With its duchesse satin tunics and jewel-colored turbans, the designer's new line sharply broke from the current trend of lightweight dresses designed for the summer, yet continued fashion's love affair with the art world by offering a delicate hint of ethnically eclectic sources, The Independent said.

Also in Milan Monday, Marni's Consuelo Castiglioni revealed her new line in a similar artistic vein, which included tunics, T-shirts and vests all adorned with abstract and watercolor art, the newspaper said.
