Miley Cyrus tickets cause frenzy

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Parents are up in arms regarding the frenzy over tickets to see Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus in concert this fall.

Some scalpers are asking up to $4,500 for tickets, and a popular online ticket reseller quotes an average price of $212 to see the teen idol perform. Tickets retail for $29-$66 through the ticker broker Ticketmaster.

Cyrus, 14, launched a 54-date arena tour this season, causing parents to wonder how much it costs to satisfy their kids who "need" tickets.

"Hell hath no fury like the parent of a child throwing a tantrum," Joe Freeman of Ticketmaster told the Los Angeles Times.

A San Antonio woman even went so far as to negotiate for tickets in a "neutral location," sounding more like a ransom request than a transaction for a ticket to see a 14-year-old girl in concert, the Time reported.

Even Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon stepped in by suing several ticket brokers for gouging consumers.

Cyrus, daughter of country western star Billy Ray Cyrus, has two albums topping the U.S. charts, selling more than 4.4 million copies.

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to controversy. A since-refuted rumor circulated over the summer that she is pregnant.
