Miley Cyrus No. 1 on Billboard album chart

NEW YORK, July 4 (UPI) -- Miley Cyrus' double-album "Hanna Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" debuted in the top spot of The Billboard 200 chart of U.S. album sales.

Just behind in No. 2 was Kelly Clarkson's latest, "My December."

The "Hannah/Miley" album is a two-disc, 20-song set divided between the soundtrack from Cyrus' TV series "Hannah Montana" and her debut studio album. Cover art on one side is for "Hanna Montana 2," while art on the other side focuses on "Meet Miley Cyrus."

Clarkson's new album has been mired in controversy, including rumors RCA didn't like material she wrote, Clarkson's split with her manager and cancellation of her summer tour because of poor ticket sales.

Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams nabbed his highest position ever on The Billboard 200 with the debut of "Easy Tiger" at No. 7.

Entering the chart at No. 15 was the Beastie Boys' instrumental album "The Mix-Up." Pearl Jam's seven-disc live boxed set "Live at the Gorge" debuted at No. 36.

Paul Simon, recently honored by the Library of Congress, debuted at No. 42 with the double-disc "Essential." The late Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole entered at No. 44 with "Wonderful World."
