Meryl Streep joins cast of 'Rendition'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Actress Meryl Streep has joined the cast of "Rendition," the upcoming political thriller which is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Ignfilmforce.net reported that Streep will co-star with Reese Witherspoon ("Legally Blonde") in the new film by New Line Cinema.

"Rendition" deals with the controversial government practice of the same name -- sending people believed to be suspects or witnesses to foreign countries where cruel interrogation practices are practiced.

Ignfilmforce.net said Witherspoon will play the pregnant wife of a man who has been to Egypt, while Streep will play a government official.
