MSN song files won't work on Zune

Story from United Press International. Copyright 2006 by United Press International (via ClariNet) LONDON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Microsoft's Zune digital music player debuts in the United States next week but it won't play songs already downloaded from the company's MSN Music site. The unpleasant surprise reported Monday by the British Broadcasting Corp. stems from the fact that Zune is not compatible with the Play For Sure architecture that MSN Music used for files sold for use on other brands of players. MSN Music was launched to compete with Apple's iPod-based online store two years ago, but the software giant has since decided to launch its own player to compete with iPod directly. A new and separate Zune music site will allow users to download songs individually or on an unlimited basis with a flat subscription fee. Add to: Tags Related to MSN song files won't work on Zune |
