Jimmy Kimmel to precede Oscars

NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- ABC has decided to head up the 2007 Oscar Awards in February with a special Jimmy Kimmel Live, in hopes of giving the late-night show a boost.

This will be the second year that Kimmel has been given the choice spot by ABC, MediaWeek.com reported Wednesday.

The special drew in about 4 million viewers last year, much better than Kimmel's 1.82 million viewers per week.

The show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" has seen a 14 percent increase in viewership over the last year.

Kimmel is also set to host ABC's upcoming game show, "Set For Life."
