Flight 103 film in works

LOCKERBIE, Scotland, April 9 (UPI) -- The father of one victim of the airliner bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, is cautiously positive about plans to turn the 1988 terrorist attack into a movie.

New Zealand film director Niki Caro is leading the project to take Ken Dornstein's memoir, "The Boy Who Fell Out of the Sky," to film. Dr. Jim Swire, whose daughter, Flora, was among the victims, acknowledged there has been a gap between media representations of the tragedy and what those who have been affected want, the BBC reported Monday.

"We have always been after the truth," Swire said. "We want to know why it was not prevented in the first place, and people who make programs about it often want to handle things a bit differently.

"But any program which threw any light on what happened is potentially very welcome."

A total of 270 people on board Pan Am Flight 103 and on the ground were killed in the bombing. Libyan Abdel Basset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi was convicted of their murders in 2001.
