David Blaine completes Target challenge

NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Magician David Blaine and the Salvation Army will host a shopping spree for 100 children at Target since Blaine completed Target's challenge in New York.

The challenge was for Blaine to escape from shackles while dangling five stories above Times Square in time for the Target two-day sale, which began Friday.

Blaine freed himself from the restraints and proceeded to jump 50 feet to the platform below him, shattering it on impact.

"I am thrilled that the challenge is over and that 100 children will receive a dream holiday shopping spree tomorrow at Target," said Blaine, just moments after the challenge was concluded. "This has been an amazing experience and I could not have spent my Thanksgiving in a more fulfilling way."

The families that will benefit from Blaine's stunt were specially chosen by The Salvation Army and will each receive a Target Gift Card valued at $500.
