Chris Brown acting more than singing now

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Virginia-born R&B singer Chris Brown plans more music video and TV appearances before he starts work on the follow-up to his double-platinum debut album.

Brown, 17, hit the top of the charts with his first single, "Run It." Now he's got a part in eight episodes of the Fox drama, "The O.C.," playing a band "geek," Billboard reported.

"I'm playing a nerd, I guess," Brown said. "It's not just a one-episode thing; it's more like a cast member."

The teen said acting "shows different avenues of my skills" but is "similar" to music.

"When you're on stage or in a video, it's kind of like acting, not being yourself," he said.

Anything he does now musically is just for fun, he said. Work on a new album won't begin until December.

"I've got a lot of ideas coming up, but I just want to have fun with it, make sure it's just being me, and positive," Brown said.
