Cassidy still in critical condition

JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Philadelphia rapper Cassidy Tuesday was in critical condition but expected to survive head injuries he suffered in a New Jersey traffic accident last week.

J Records publicist Theola Borden told the Jersey Journal the rapper was unconscious at the Jersey City Medical Center, six days after the accident, but tests indicate he will survive.

"We don't know whether he is in an induced coma or heavily sedated," she said. "The results of a CAT scan were OK."

Cassidy, 23, whose real name is Barry Reese, reportedly sustained numerous fractured facial bones in addition to a fractured skull.

A truck reportedly ran a red light on the north side of Jersey City last Wednesday and hit the sport utility vehicle transporting the rapper to New York to work on his third CD.

Jersey City police told the newspaper there was no record of an accident last Wednesday involving the rapper.
