Bacon, Sedgwick get close on 'Closer'

ATLANTA, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. acting couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were both part of Monday's episode of "The Closer" -- he behind the camera, she in front.

Sedgwick stars as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson, who heads the Priority Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department on the popular TV drama for Atlanta-based TNT. Bacon directed his wife of 18 years in Monday's "Blindsided."

Bacon, who also directed an episode last year, got to spend some time on the set to take in the dynamics, USA Today reported Monday.

And he seeks his wife's opinion.

"Sometimes after a take, I'm scratching my head trying to think of suggestions for her just so it looks like I'm doing something," Bacon said. "She's very hands-on and is a big part of why that show works."

Bacon has been spending the summer on location in New Jersey for the HBO "Taking Chance," where he portrays Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, assigned to escort the body of a soldier killed in Iraq to his hometown. He'll be seen on the big screen Aug. 31 in " Death Sentence," playing a business executive whose son is killed by gang members.
