Akon charged in teen-tossing incident

FISHKILL, N.Y., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Singer Akon is slated to be arraigned in a New York court on charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly threw a teen concert-goer off a stage.

Police in upstate New York have charged the popular recording artist with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment, TMZ.com reported.

The charges stem from an episode that reportedly occurred last June when Akon was performing at a concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill.

A fan allegedly tossed something at him while he was on stage, prompting Akon to ask the crowd to identify the individual.

A security guard then picked a 15-year-old out of the crowd and sent him up on stage, where Akon grabbed him and tossed him back into the audience, TMZ.com said.

The fan landed on another teen who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she suffered a concussion.

People.com said someone captured the incident on video with their cell phone and the Journal posted the footage on its Web site.

Akon is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
