Ailing Rihanna cancels UK dates

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Barbados-born pop singer Rihanna reportedly has canceled three upcoming concerts in England, as per her physician's orders.

Rihanna was slated to perform in Nottingham Saturday, Birmingham Monday and Bournemouth next Tuesday, E! Online reported.

A statement released by Birmingham's NEC Arena said Rihanna "appreciates the love and support of all her fans and wants nothing more than to see and connect with them."

Rihanna's representatives have not revealed the nature of her health issues, E! Online said.

As of Tuesday, she was still planning to take the stage Thursday in Newcastle.

The 19-year-old recording artist was nominated last week for six Grammy Awards, including song and record of the year for "Umbrella."

The Grammy awards ceremony is set for Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.
