Syria

Syria is the name of the country that lies in the Levant region of the Middle East area. Syria is also known by the name of The Syrian Arab Republic. The country Golan Heights that lies in the southwest were lost in a war to Israel . The Greater Syria, its ancient region mostly includes the territories of Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and parts of Jordan. The country is mostly occupied by the people of Canaanites, Hebrews, Arameans, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Nabataeans, Byzantines and Arabs. Syria is a republic country but its citizens do not have right to change their government, so they only vote for the President and members of Parliament. The country president has the right to appoint ministers, to declare war and states of emergency, to issue laws, to declare amnesty, to amend the constitution, and to appoint civil servants and military personnel. It has fourteen governorates.
