Israel is the name of the country, which lies in the Middle East on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is known for being the only Jewish state. Israel is full of Jewish people, who are staying there for over 3000 years. It is said to be Jews people homeland. Israel became the part of the Ottoman Empire in 1517. However the place was earlier ruled by number of Arab states. There is also a wide fluctuation in population of the Jewish people as time passed. In 1881, there were almost 20-25,000 of Jewish residing in Israel but with time the majority of Jewish people have kept increasing. The state of Israel was proclaimed on May 15, 1948 after British Government decided to withdraw from the Palestine Mandate in 1947. The Government system of Israel is based on the laws of the Knesset.
