Zac Efron hospitalised

Zac Efron was rushed to hospital yesterday (15.01.08) to have his appendix removed.

The 'High School Musical' heartthrob was taken to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to have the emergency appendectomy.

His representative said: "Zac had his appendix removed and is recuperating."

The 20-year-old's hospitalisation comes a day after Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Productions announced Zac would be joining co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel in the third movie in the series, 'High School Musical: Senior Year'.

The cast will star as high school seniors who stage an "elaborate musical" before graduating.

Zac is currently filming 'Seventeen' alongside former 'Friends' star Matthew Perry.

He recently admitted he is still struggling to get used to his worldwide fame.

Zac said: "It's weird, I don't feel like I deserve any of the attention.

"There's really nothing but one audition for a Disney Channel movie that separates me from 2,000 other brown-haired, blue-eyed guys in Los Angeles, you know?"
