Prince William's girlfriend has been enjoying some of the post-Christmas sales in London. Kate Middleton, who has been romancing the British royal since they met at St Andrews University, browsed for bargains on the capital's King's Road while William was with relatives at Sandringham. Dressed in an elegant black coat, Kate looked stunning as she shopped with her mother, Carole. Shortly after the shopping trip, Kate and William jetted off on a romantic ski holiday. The pair flew to the Swiss Alps so they can enjoy a quiet break before William begins his army training. The 23-year-old royal is set to start at the world-renowned Sandhurst Military Academy in a few days, joining younger brother Harry, who has been enrolled there for several months. Once he starts the 44-week training period, William will have little time to spend with Kate - and won't see her at all for the first five weeks. A friend of the pair said: "William and Kate are trying to spend as much time together as possible before he starts at Sandhurst. They've dreaded this for months. They know how their lives are about to change. At university they saw each other every day, but that will soon seem a very long time ago. The ski trip was one way William has tried to soften the blow." The source added: "The next year is a huge test for Kate and William's relationship. They'll be doing everything they can to keep it going."
