Diana made Duran Duran 'uncool'

Britain's Princess Diana made Duran Duran "uncool".

Lead singer Simon Le Bon believes the 80s group lost some rock'n'roll kudos when the princess publicly declared them her "favourite band".

He told Britain's The Times newspaper: "How did Diana's patronage impact on us? With your average general public, it probably made us accessible. For a lot of other people it made us a little uncool. The royal assent is the establishment saying they like you. It's not very rock'n'roll, is it?"

Duran Duran were among a host of acts invited by Diana's sons Princes William and Harry to perform at last July's special memorial show, the Concert for Diana, which marked the 10th anniversary of her untimely death.

Le Bon, 49, previously claimed the princess had a crush on him and once flirted with him in a gym.

He recalled: "She and I used to go to the same fitness club in London. One day I was on the running machine. I jumped off because one of my shoelaces had come undone, and she wolf-whistled at me across the room, and yelled, like a bricklayer, 'Nice legs! I'd recognise that bum anywhere!' I was quite taken aback, actually, and quietly got back on the machine with a red face."
