Chris Penn's death was an accident, it has been revealed. Los Angeles coroners say the 'Reservoir Dogs' actor - who was found dead in his Santa Monica apartment last month - died of an enlarged heart. Autopsy and toxicology reports show the 40-year-old's health problems were complicated by the "effects of multiple medication intake". Chief coroner investigator, Craig Harvey, said Penn - the younger brother of Oscar-winner Sean Penn - was taking several prescription medicines that contributed to his death, including an addictive cold and flu drug. It's not known how much medication the actor, who appeared in more than 60 movies during his career, had taken. He was not taking heart medication when he died. Harvey said: "There is absolutely no indication that this is anything but an accident. "We know he had several prescriptions, including promethazine with codeine, which featured predominantly in his death. We don't know how much he ingested or when. There are a lot of 'what ifs' to be factored in." A detailed report is expected to be released within a few weeks.
