Charlize Theron explains the change in her looks

Charlize Theron has slammed claims she chose to play an ugly woman in 'North Country' in a bid to reclaim her Best Actress Oscar. The stunning star had to pile on the pounds and drastically alter her looks to star as infamous serial killer Aileen Wuornos in award-winning 'Monster' in 2004 - and is now set to play a plain miner in the new film. The decision sparked speculation the actress had picked another unattractive character to boost her chances of winning a second gong at the star-studded awards ceremony later this year. But sexy Charlize, 30, has denied the claims. She stormed: "That's nonsense. It was necessary to change my looks for 'North Country', because mine workers really don't look chic. "When beautiful women change their looks for a movie, like Nicole Kidman in 'The Hours' or Halle Berry in 'Monster's Ball', that has nothing to do with calculation!" She added: "It's the job of an actress to play other people."
