Ben Stiller's bad trip

(BANG) - Ben Stiller took acid when he was a teenager, but the hallucination was so bad he called his parents for help.

The 'Meet The Parents' star - son of comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara - was just 16 and home alone in New York when he decided to try the mind-bending drug, with frightening consequences.

Stiller told The Times magazine: "It was scary. A bad, bad trip. The first and last time I ever did it.

"I freaked out and called my parents, who were in Los Angeles doing an episode of 'The Love Boat'. They just had no experience of it, they had no idea how to calm me down.

"My dad said, 'Oh I understand what you're going through, I smoked a cigarette when I was ten, and I was sick for two days.' I was saying, 'No, no, dad, it's not like that.' Next time you're on acid, don't call your parents."
