A wheely bad idea

A US man was severely injured in both legs after he tried to loosen a stiff wheel-nut by shooting it with his gun.

The 66-year-old man, from Seattle, was repairing his car outside his home and when he shot at the wheel he was peppered with buckshot and debris.

The man - who police say was sober and on his own - was rushed to hospital.

The man had been repairing his car for two weeks and was so frustrated by the one remaining nut which refused to move he resorted to gun power.

A police spokesman said: "He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off."
