Target to offer $4 generic drugs

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Target will be matching Wal-Mart's $4 generic prescription price in all 1,287 of its pharmacies, the U.S. retail giant announced Monday.

The move comes in an effort to "avoid confusion" among employees and customers, the company said in a statement.

Customers can go to the Target Web site, www.target.com, to see a list of generic drugs available at the discounted price.

"Target remains committed to providing guests added value and quality service," said the Minneapolis-based company, which operates 1,494 stores in 47 states.

Target's main competitor, Wal-Mart, began offering many generic drugs at the discounted $4 price earlier this year.
