Sales of Chinese-made cars up 23 percent

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The sale of passenger vehicles manufactured in China rose nearly 23 percent from Jan. to Nov. 2007.

The first 11 months of 2007 saw sales of sedans increase 24.32 percent and 21.11 percent for sport utility vehicles, China's official Xinhua news agency said Saturday.

The top sedan sellers from Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors accounted for 65 percent of the total automotive sales.

The top selling sedans are Volkswagen's Jetta and Santana models, General Motors' Buick Excelle, Honda's Camry, Anhui Chery's QQ and FAW Tiajnin's Xiali.
