Story from United Press International. Copyright 2006 by United Press International (via ClariNet) DARWIN, Australia, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- China said Friday 15 fishermen have been detained in Darwin, Australia, on suspicion of fishing illegally in Australian waters. The official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, reported an Australian defense ship intercepted a Chinese boat and took the fishermen to the capital of Australia's Northern Territory. The report said it was the sixth Chinese boat detained so far this year. The owner of the Chinese vessel was quoted as saying there was no fishing in the Australian waters. He said the boat was nearly out of power and was waiting for refueling when it was intercepted without any fish on the boat. The Chinese Embassy in Australia urged that the issue be dealt with properly and the vessel and its crew released as early as possible.
